Sunday Review 07.09.17

In case you weren't able to be with us for our time together yesterday, here's what you missed:

Worship Gatherings

  • Pastor Rob continued our study of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. As we looked at the fruit of goodness, we saw that God is, in Himself, entirely good (Ps. 119:68). However, we, in our own resources, are not (Rom. 7:18). We noted that heaven will be filled with only good things (Ps. 15), leading us to recognize that none of us deserves to be there. But we saw that God graciously provides the goodness we lack to those who trust Him (Heb. 13:20-21). We then saw God's goodness on display as we witnessed the baptism of eight believers.

The Gospel Project

  • We continued our review of the various atonement sacrifices as outlined in Leviticus. We saw that we need atonement to purify our hearts (Lev. 5:1-13; Heb. 13:11-12), and to cleanse our consciences (Lev 5:14-19). But these offerings pointed forward to Christ, whose work purifies our hearts, cleanses our consciences, and frees us to do good deeds for His glory (Heb 9:13-14).
