Sunday Preview 09.30.18

This Sunday at Cornerstone Church...

Jesus told us that “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Satan and the forces of darkness desire that God’s people would doubt, be anxious, and fear the circumstances of life and the future, but our Savior has come to set us free from bondage. Through His life, death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus has removed from us the bondage associated with death (Heb. 2:14-15). As satanic forces seek to cause doubt and despair, the church has been instructed to “take up the shield of faith.” We should consider these truths regarding faith: 1) Faith by definition is substantive, something we can hold on to (Heb. 11:1); 2) Faith is the avenue through which the church is made right with God (Rom. 5:1); 3) Faith has been given as a precious gift from God (Eph. 2:8-9); 4) Faith is necessary for the maturity of the Christian (Gal. 3:1-9); 5) Each believer has been blessed with “the measure of faith” (Rom. 12:3); and, 6) Faith is a gracious outworking of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). As we navigate through life, we can expect opposition to our faith. Our response is not to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps of our faith, but to ask God for the faith He offers that results in a flawless defense. These thoughts will prepare our minds for a celebration of the Lord’s supper. Join us this Sunday!

Each week we'll include a list of songs we plan to sing during our time of corporate worship. We hope this helps you prepare for our Sunday gatherings.
