Sunday Preview 01.19.20

This Sunday at Cornerstone Church...

Paul’s unveiling of man's unrighteousness continues in the last section of Romans chapter one. He states, essentially, that because mankind did not "retain God in their knowledge" (Rom. 1:28), God gave them up to a mind that is not sound. The result of this unfit mind is that they "do what ought not to be done." They are controlled by unrighteousness, and they are full of unrighteous acts, because they are unrighteous in their nature (Rom. 1:29ff "they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God…"). This exposé is essential for our understanding of ourselves, whether we are believers or unbelievers. Our biggest problem is not our actions, but our corrupt nature. In other words, we sin because we are sinners. But the gospel that Paul was eager to preach gives the believer a new nature. This new nature is not corrupt, but pure. And the believer who lives in accordance with the gospel will put off the corrupt nature that leads toward sin, and will put on the new nature that is righteous and does righteousness. The gospel truly produces fruit. Come join us as we worship our Righteous God!

Each week we'll include a list of songs we plan to sing during our time of corporate worship. We hope this helps you prepare for our Sunday gatherings.
