Coronavirus Update 03.13.20

Dear Cornerstone family,

As we watch the development and spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we remain steadfastly confident in God’s sovereign care over us (“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works” [Psalm 145:13]). It is essential that we do not overreact as we see safety precautions put in place to arrest the spread of the virus. Our lives from birth to death and everything in between are in the hands of our mighty God (Psalm 139:13-18; Acts 17:26-28).

Though we should not panic or feast on every article published about COVID-19, we should be careful to take reasonable steps to prevent its further spread while maintaining a sober mind. Be thoughtful about your own personal preparedness for this period of time.

As a church, we want to demonstrate care and responsibility. Our first concern is to fulfill our purposes for the Lord. We will continue to worship the Lord, for He is our life (Col. 3:4; John 4:23-24). We are concerned about caring for the physical well-being of our community and God’s church; therefore, we have some recommendations for this upcoming week:

  • If you are sick, you need to stay home. Extra thoughtfulness regarding spreading sickness is required at this time.
  • If you are physically compromised and/or over 70 years old, you should consider staying home. We want you to be well.
  • For those who do worship with us, we are strongly recommending avoiding hand shaking and even fist bumping. Let’s take extra precautions during this season.
  • To limit any unnecessary risks of spread, we are postponing for this week the following activities:
    • the fellowship after morning worship
    • AWANA
    • The Gospel Project (we will have a live online broadcast of the study)
    • Monday Evening School of the Bible.
  • We will host our Wednesday Evening Bible Study and Prayer, following the same recommendations as listed above. This is a time that we are more aware of our need for communing with the Lord through prayer, and we want to facilitate that privilege together.

All of our services are available to view live on sermonaudio.com. You can find our church in the broadcaster search at the top of the page by typing in cornerstonechurch without a space or by typing in my name.

While there will be some distance, physically, during this brief season, we stand ready to minister to your needs. Feel free to call the office or send me an email at any time. As more information is made available, we will inform you of our plans for upcoming weeks.

Our God reigns,
Pastor Robert Clark
